What's so special about Kartik Maas?

Kartik Maas, also known as Damodar Maas, is described as the best month in scriptures such as the Padma Purana and Skanda Purana. A very sweet pastime of Lord Krishna took place in this month. It's called the Damodar Lila. Dama means Rope & Udara means belly. Mother Yashoda tried to bind naughty Krishna around a grinding mortar, but the rope always fell too short by two inches. Attempting again & again, she became tired. Then Lord Krishna appreciated the love of His mother, and He agreed to be bound up by the ropes.

The scriptures state that anyone who offers a Ghee Lamp with love to Lord Damodara and sings the Damodarastakam during this Kartik maas will be showered with His blessings. He can win over Lord Damodara like Mother Yashoda & be unlimitedly blessed.
