As we enter the year 2026, devotees should not merely seek material happiness, resolutions, or celebrations, but rather take this occasion as an opportunity to renew their vows of devotional service—to hear about Kṛṣṇa, chant His holy names, and serve His mission with sincerity and determination.
Śrīla Prabhupāda writes that human life is meant for tapasya, voluntary spiritual discipline, by which one becomes purified and returns back home, back to Godhead. Thus, the beginning of a new year is best sanctified by engaging in bhakti-yoga, the eternal occupation of the soul.
Śrīla Prabhupāda repeatedly emphasized that chanting the holy name is the essence of all spiritual practices in Kali-yuga:
“In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy, the only means of deliverance is chanting the holy name of the Lord.”
(Cc. Ādi 17.21)
On New Year’s Day, devotees should make a firm resolve to chant attentively and offenselessly:
Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa
Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare
Hare Rāma Hare Rāma
Rāma Rāma Hare Hare
By offering the first hours of the year to kīrtana and japa, one places the entire year under the shelter of the holy name. This chanting cleanses the heart of material desires and awakens pure love for Kṛṣṇa.
2. Hearing and Reflecting on Bhagavad-gītā As It Is
Śrīla Prabhupāda taught that Bhagavad-gītā is spoken directly by Kṛṣṇa for the benefit of all humanity, and that one should understand it without interpretation or speculation.
At the start of the year, devotees are encouraged to read and contemplate verses from Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, especially Kṛṣṇa’s instructions on:
Surrender (śaraṇāgati)
Performing one’s duty as an offering to Kṛṣṇa
Fixing the mind on the Supreme Lord
Kṛṣṇa declares:
“Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me.”
(Bhagavad-gītā 18.65)
Making a vow to regularly hear and study Kṛṣṇa’s words throughout the year ensures spiritual clarity and steadiness in devotional life.
3. Engaging in Seva — Practical Service to Kṛṣṇa
Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasized that devotional service is not sentiment but practical engagement in Kṛṣṇa’s mission:
“Devotional service means to work for Kṛṣṇa with one’s body, mind, and words.”
Beginning the year by rendering some form of seva—whether in the temple, preaching, book distribution, prasāda distribution, or supporting devotional projects—purifies one’s existence and strengthens one’s connection with the Lord.
Service performed for Kṛṣṇa is never lost; it becomes eternal spiritual credit.
Supporting the Mission of Lord Kṛṣṇa: Service to Vṛndāvana Chandrodaya Mandir
Śrīla Prabhupāda desired that magnificent temples be built so that people from all over the world could come, see the Deity of the Lord, hear about Kṛṣṇa, and revive their forgotten relationship with Him.
The Vṛndāvana Chandrodaya Mandir (VCM) is envisioned as a powerful center for preaching Kṛṣṇa consciousness, preserving Vedic culture, and glorifying Śrī Kṛṣṇa in His own land of Vṛndāvana. Supporting such a project is not ordinary charity—it is direct service to the Supreme Lord and His devotees.
Why Contributing to VCM Is Meaningful Devotional Service
By assisting in the construction and activities of VCM, one participates in:
Establishing a permanent place for hari-kīrtana and Deity worship
Providing spiritual education based on Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
Distributing prasāda, which Śrīla Prabhupāda called “spiritual mercy in edible form”
Creating a transcendental atmosphere that can uplift millions of souls
Śrīla Prabhupāda taught that using one’s wealth, energy, and intelligence in Kṛṣṇa’s service is real success in life.
Ways to Offer Your Seva
Contribute toward the construction and maintenance of the temple
Sponsor prasāda distribution for pilgrims and devotees
Volunteer time and skills in temple activities and festivals
Offer financial donations as an expression of devotion
Even a small offering, when given with sincerity and faith, is accepted by Kṛṣṇa.
Let the New Year Be a Step Closer to Kṛṣṇa
The true value of a new year is not measured by external achievements but by how much we have advanced in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. By chanting sincerely, hearing submissively, and serving faithfully, one can transform the year 2026 into a meaningful step toward spiritual perfection.
Let us begin this year by remembering Śrī Kṛṣṇa, serving His devotees, and assisting His mission, following the instructions of Śrīla Prabhupāda, our eternal well-wisher.
May Śrī Kṛṣṇa bestow His causeless mercy upon you and grant you firm faith, steady devotion, and the intelligence to always remain engaged in His loving service.
All glories to Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.Purpose of Payment :
