Nityananda Trayodashi

Nityananda Trayodashi is the auspicious appearance day of Sri Nityananda Prabhu, which is observed usually a week after Vasant Panchami. He descended on this planet on the thirteenth day of Magha Shukla Paksha.

He was born to Sri Hadai Pandit and Padmavati in the village of Ekachakra in West Bengal. There is a temple named Garbhavasa in commemoration of His birthplace. Sri Nityananda Prabhu, the incarnation of Lord Balaram, appeared on earth to assist Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu - the golden avatar of Lord Krishna, in His mission to establish and propagate the Sankirtan movement. Sri Nityananda Prabhu travelled extensively for this noble purpose.

Nityananda Vat, also known as Shringar Vat in Vrindavan and Sri Nityananda Baithak, near Radha Kund, are some of the prominent places where Lord Nityananda performed His divine pastimes in Braj.

He married Vasudha Devi and Jahnava Devi, the daughters of Pandit Surya Dasa. After the disappearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu, Jahnava Mata continued to lead the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya and many vaishnavas took shelter of her lotus feet.

Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir will celebrate Nityananda Trayodashi on 22 February 2024. The Deities in the temple will be adorned in Nav Poshak and fragrant flower garlands. The festivities will include an elaborate abhishek for the Deities of Sri Nitai Gauranga, followed by a grand arati accompanied by sankirtan.  This will be followed by a special lecture on the pastimes of Lord Nityananda. The event will conclude with shayana arati and dinner prasadam will be served to all the devotees

It is said that one needs Sri Nityananda Prabhu’s mercy to understand the Supreme Lord Krishna, Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir invites you to take part in this festival and receive unlimited blessings of Lord Nityananda on this auspicious occasion.
